Massage Therapy
“Ali is an expert body worker – her skills and techniques are exceptional. I feel she is truly a partner in helping you reach excellence in health & wellness.” - Jon Hamm, actor
World-class Body Therapy Services
My massage practice is based in Los Angeles, with clients all over the world. I am available by arrangement for travel to on-site productions and private events.
Over four decades, I have developed an extraordinarily beneficial and proprietary approach to massage, which I call ProprioMassage®. In 90-minute full-body, comprehensive massage, I provide bodywork that brings awareness into flesh (Mind in Matter™). This is integrated body mapping which re-patterns enduring changes that benefit client whole health and well-being in profound ways.
Another of my particular areas of expertise is Shoulder Release. If you’re rehabilitating from a shoulder injury, your profession requires pain-free shoulder mobilization, or you’re simply a shoulder stress-fest, I do not know of any practitioner more effective in re/gaining complete shoulder range, integrity, and comfort. Even one session will change your body and your life!

“Ali is a genius, her ability to make the body feel it’s best is second to none. She knows so much about bodywork from the technical to the ethereal and I feel extremely grateful to have her in my life.”

Alison is a life saver and is hands down the best masseuse I have ever worked with. Her skill is undeniably impressive, her passion and care is equally unmatched. During my twenty-five-year career as a filmmaker, Alison has remained my number one stress reliever whenever I am in the throes of a lengthy production. She has also been a massage therapist for my wife and kids, who adore her, and has provided excellent service for the entire family over the years.
Alison has a rare and prodigious ability in working with the body and I am very fortunate to have known and benefited from her expertise for these many years. Her though[ul, introspecLve approach to body therapy and her extensive knowledge and experience has made Ms. Mezey indispensable to my individual and family’s self care.
She is an absolute joy to work with, a uniquely gifted massage therapist and an invaluable inclusion in the massage therapy field.

“Ali’s work has been superb for our clients.
As a luxury hotel, the comfort, safety, and overall guest experience is our highest priority, and Alison has contributed greatly to this goal with her work with our guests. Over the years, we have seen a number of massage therapists at the hotel, and Ali’s work stands well above the rest. Her talents as a therapist and healer are recognized by guests and staff alike to be of the highest quality. She has always been accommodating and flexible with the irregular schedule of out guest requests, and her good-nature and skill have proven to be a wonderful resource for our hotel.
Ali is a person of great integrity and talent, and her work comes with our highest recommendation.”
-
“You are a master of your craft.”

“Ali’s bodywork is meticulous, careful, present and attentive.
She has a keen intuitive sense about how one part of the body affects another, and sometimes when she is working in one place, there are unexpected and welcome releases at a distance!
I got a bodywork session from Ali a week ago and am still feeing great. Her detailed and meticulous attention to every tight nook and cranny around shoulders, collarbones, hips, spine, legs and ankles left me feeling more open and much freer in my body. I spend too much time studying, sometimes 12 hours at a stretch. Alison’s work to untether my neck from the constant strain of craning forward toward my computer screen was simply the best I have ever encountered. Writers and others who spend too much time in front of their computers would benefit enormously from her finely detailed work with neck and shoulder tension.
I recommend you give yourself the gift of a session with her.
Be ready to luxuriate in the hands of a skilled and experienced practitioner who knows the way to relieve the problem spots that plague so many of us. It is good to be so well cared for. “

-
“It was amazing work that you did for me and I very much look forward to continuing where we left off. I have been trying to release what you touched on for years and years to no avail before today. I am blessed to have met you!”

“I love the whole world when your hands are on my body. ”

ProprioMassage®
ProprioMassage™ Brings Mind into Matter, Which Optimizes Our Innate Capacities to Feel and to heal
During the past 40 years while of working with thousands of people and their bodies, I’ve developed a highly effective, proprietary method of bodywork I call ProprioMassage®. This technique reconnects mind and matter, merging awareness and the physical body – the re/union essential for our innate feeling and healing capacities to thrive.
Speaking with hands, subtle strategic movements, and sometimes words, my work is a kinesthetic conversation with flesh, bone, brain, and the proprioceptors throughout each body. In this communication, neuro-pathways are re-sensed, re-experienced, and re-wired. One’s mind is brought into their matter, and a fluency of brain-body conversation is restored.
Within a full-body ProprioMassage®, the whole body is re-membered, re-mapped, and re-constituted as a harmonious system. In contrast, the many bodywork modalities I have experienced either work on troublesome parts of the body (but do not integrate those altered parts back into the whole) or provide full-body massages that feel good but do not alleviate underlying pain or problematic patterns.
It is a lack of movement and awareness in the tissues that causes pain, lack of vitality, and blockages to healing properly. My understanding of how to cue the brain and negotiate with each body to retrieve that movement of tissue, joints, and consciousness enables people to feel tremendous relief, freedom, and expansion in many aspects of their lives.
ProprioMassage® oscillates between the specific and the global throughout the entire session, addressing both parts and the whole. The goal? Getting my clients feeling (and enjoying!) their bodies in more awareness and detail.
How do I do this?
I engage proprioception to wake up the whole body by:
Alternating globally and locally with a strategic sequence covering the whole body in a 90-minute session – during the session, there is a re-patterning of idiosyncratic compensatory strategies and updating the re-integration of increasingly available and functioning tissue
Reading movement (and lack thereof) through tension patterns, joint capacities, and neurological responsiveness
Working three-dimensionally, often maneuvering underneath bodies – always working with volumes not surfaces
Putting gravity to work – how is it revealing and helping to release tension patterns?
Using proprioceptive triangulation – strategically putting parts of the body in positions so the body can consciously “find,” release, and re-integrate degrees of movement that had gone MIA into neurological holes
Strategically positioning limbs to cue the brain-body to recognize the necessary muscular release and conscious awareness that allows increased movement
Including verbal cuing to bring conscious attention to what can be released only from the inside out (I can’t make the body do it no matter how manually skilled I am)
Working expertly to always release the crucial, and too often neglected, tension patterns of the armpits and groin
Awakening simple pleasure and a palpable sense of safety – two of the greatest inspirations to feel, breathe, and embody more fully
Leveraging the benefits of nervous system downregulation and relaxation (client is passive on the table) while periodically engaging the mind in new ways
ProprioMassage® optimizes our capacity to re-ignite our minds with our matter for optimal embodied living.
